It’s been around a week since the Euler Finance hack occurred with the exploiter looting away around $197 million worth of crypto assets. The Euler Finance exploiter finally broke the silence by responding to the platform’s ultimatum.
Last week, Euler Finance witnessed a flash loan attack which became the biggest hack of 2023. The exploiters leveraged two different DeFi tools to divert the stolen funds.
The exploiter responded to the ongoing tension via the Ethereum address linked to Euler Finance, initiating to reach a settlement.
“We want to make this easy on all those affected. No intention of keeping what is not ours. Setting up secure communication. Let us come to an agreement,” the hackers noted.
Euler Foundation offered a $1M bounty to recover the stolen funds “for information that leads to the Euler protocol attacker’s arrest and the return of all funds extracted by the attacker.”
Following the announcement, the hacker washed out 1,000 ETH into Tornado Cash but also transferred 3,000 ETH to Euler’s address. The exploiter also sent around 100 ETH transferred to an address associated with North Korea.
Euler Finance still hasn’t responded to the exploiter’s message. If the attacker keeps their word and returns the funds, then reaching an agreement is in the best interests of the user’s asset recovery.
