The founder of Terra USDT and Luna and the suspect behind their crash, Do Kwon also known as Kwon Do-hyung, was apprehended at Podgorica airport in Montenegro, according to Interpol.
Do Kwon, the co-founder and CEO of TerraUSD’s parent company Terraform Labs, the most wanted crypto fugitive of 2022 due to the multi-billion dollar fraud that wiped around $40 Billion, has been arrested by the Montenegro police on Thursday.
Montenegro’s Interior Minister Filip Adzic confirmed the incident through his unverified Twitter account. He added, “Montenegro police have detained a person suspected of being one of the most wanted fugitives, South Korean Citizen, Co-founder and CEO of Singapore-based Terraform Labs.”
According to Adzic, police caught two suspects after finding forged Costa Rican and Belgian passports at Podgorica airport in Montenegro, who were hoping to board a Dubai flight. In a statement, he added, “we are waiting for official confirmation of identity.”
The unidentified suspect was later found to be Kwon as it was confirmed through a fingerprint match conducted by Interpol’s national central bureau in Seoul.
Following the Interior Minister’s tweet, the Prime Minister of Montenegro – Dritan Abazovic also agreed about Do Kwon’s arrest as he retweeted Adzic’s tweet.
