Yuga Labs’ Otherside metaverse introduced the “Legends of the Mara (LOTM),” a 2D strategy gaming experience for Voyagers as a follow-up to the Otherside Second Trip.
According to the announcement, “LOTM will be driven by the celestial Odiac and is a persistent 2D experience that will allow you to evolve your Mara into Kodamara, farm sediment, and defend your Otherdeed from emerging threats.”
Throughout LOTM, Voyagers will get to learn about Kodas, their origins, and their relationship with the Otherside metaverse, encounter some new characters in the form of the Mara, etc.
Last month, Yuga Labs’ Otherside hinted at Legends Of The Mara with Chief Gaming Officer Spencer Tucker saying 2023 is going to be a big year for the company’s metaverse.
For each Otherdeed owned, each Voyager will be able to claim a Vessel NFT. After the claim, users will require at least one Otherdeed, a Koda, and possibly an apprentice Mara in order to play.
Each claimed Vessel will be sent as a unique ERC-721 token along with a new smart contract or NFT collection to the Otherdeed-holding wallet. LOTM is essentially powered by ApeCoin.
Vessel NFT has different functions like Hunting, Farming, or Enchanting. Kodas are by far the best at farming, enchantment, and hunting in Legends of the Mara as they can perform any of these functions but one at a time.
Vessels develop into Mara, which can then grow into more capable Kodamara given the correct environment and catalyst.
Early April will mark the start of the claim window for Vessels. Prior to revealing a Mara, each Vessel will have a particular incubation period. The Maras that appear will serve the purpose of their Vessel.
The three distinct Mara species that will emerge from the Vessels are Farmer, Hunter, and Enchanter, respectively.
Mara and Kodamara collections are capable allies in the fight to defend Otherside, though their abilities are severely limited in comparison to the ancient Koda.
Otherside states in excitement: “Claim your Vessel, discover its potential, and forge your path.”
