British Formula One (F1) team Williams Racing chooses Kraken as its official crypto and web3 partner ahead of the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
As the announcement states: “This groundbreaking partnership brings together two legacy brands renowned for their innovation, cutting-edge technology, and unrelenting passion for excellence.”
The rear wings of Williams cars, the drivers’ suits, the FW45 halo, and caps will all sport the Kraken logo for the remainder of the F1 World Championship Season.
Williams and Kraken will also work together on content to inform fans about Web3 and create limited-edition caps for specific races. Williams Racing will stage pop-up events and F1 Fan Zone activities in which Kraken will participate.
Williams Racing’s Commercial Director James Bower stated: “We’re excited to get the partnership underway to offer our fans cutting-edge crypto and Web3 experiences, while also enabling Kraken to reach new institutional clients and businesses through our network and events.”
Selected lucky Kraken NFT holders will have the chance to see their digital collectibles featured on the rear wing of the Williams Racing car.
Kraken stated, “We plan to announce more exciting benefits, including exclusive content, fan pop-ups with Williams, and chances to grab Kraken and Williams-branded team merchandise.”
Kraken’s CMO Mayur Gupta added: “Kraken’s partnership with Williams Racing shows what is possible when you combine a great mission with excellence, innovation, and breakthrough performance. These are both iconic brands that have stood the test of time. We’re excited to engage with both Kraken’s and Williams Racing’s global communities, showcasing the power and life-changing impact of crypto and Web3.”
F1 and crypto partnerships go hand-in-hand but it did suffer a turbulent period following FTX’s demise. Last November, the Mercedes Formula One Team suspended its partnership with FTX, following the latter’s bankruptcy. Hamilton and teammate George Russell raced without FTX logos on their cars in the Brazilian Grand Prix.
