The surprising fact came to light as someone has buried a Bitcoin Whitepaper into the MacOS code in the copies issued after 2017 along with other hidden files.
The issue was first highlighted by MacOS user, bernd178 on the MacOS Community Forum in April 2021. The user noticed the function Virtual Scanner II attached with the Image Capture Utility in frozen mode.
However, the news again came to the surface after Andy Baio, a blogger, wrote a blog on Waxy.
The Virtual Scanner II contains an inconspicuous picture of a bay located in San Francisco, along with a PDF version of the Bitcoin Whitepaper.
“Weirdly, there is also a PDF with the original Bitcoin white paper from Satoshi Nakamoto in the VirtualScanner.app Package Content,” bernd178 wrote.
In the blog posted on April 5, Andy Baio disclosed a command to check preview of Bitcoin PDF size of 184 KB.
He explained possible reason behind it, “Maybe it was just a convenient, lightweight multipage PDF for testing purposes, never meant to be seen by end users.”
