A group of developers who work with Ethereum have collaborated to develop MEV Blocker, a tool designed to assist individuals in executing transactions on the Ethereum network while avoiding the negative impact of maximal extractable value (MEV) bots.
The tool is collaboratively developed by some of the prominent players in Ethereum’s MEV ecosystem, including CoW Protocol, Beaver Build, and Agnostic Relay.
MEV-Blocker is designed to empower ordinary users by offering them a solution to avoid prevalent MEV attacks and even benefit from certain MEV strategies that are less harmful.
Maximal extractable value (MEV) bots are a type of software program that attempts to exploit the profit-making opportunities that exist in the process of block validation and transaction settlement on a blockchain.
Through MEV bots, blockchain operators take advantage of the price difference between the market value of the assets being traded and the cost of executing a transaction.
According to MEV Blocker’s data, So far, ordinary users of Ethereum have lost over $1.38 billion due to MEV bots.
The launch of MEV Blocker will join the club of RPC endpoints that allow users to counter MEV extractors.
The team behind MEV Blocker stated, “MEV Blocker works by directing transactions to a network of ‘searchers’ before sending them to the mempool. The searchers then bid for the right to back-run the transactions while simultaneously shielding users from front-running and sandwich attacks.”
According to MEV Blocker, their utility will reward “at least 90% of the profits from winning bids back to users,” with the other 10% going to validators.
