This just in! “The Fast and the Furious” co-writer David Ayer is entering the web3 space in collaboration with NFT technology platform Feature.io to launch the web3 racing game experience “Lollipop.”
Lollipop is an interactive game blending episodic streaming, gaming, & sports which is built on Unreal Engine 5 and powered by Polygon blockchain.
Ayer was first presented with Lollipop’s concept by Steven Ilous, CEO of Feature.io. Ilous pointed out that Ayer is a huge fan of web3 technology.
Lollipop will include NFTs, which Ilous and Ayer prefer to refer to as “digital collectibles” to avoid the adverse connotation associated with the term NFT.
Ilous noted “We don’t really use the word NFTs. But there’s digital collectibles, there is a streaming narrative component, and there is gamification.”
Ayer added, “I’m excited to be working with the team at Polygon on ‘Lollipop’. As a filmmaker, I’ve always been interested in exploring new forms of storytelling and entertainment, and blockchain gaming is the perfect opportunity to do just that. I can’t wait for players to experience the thrill of racing in this innovative new game.”
Ryan Wyatt, president of Polygon, dots on the “truly pioneering” collaboration noting “Feature is spearheading the future of storytelling and utilizing Polygon blockchain technology to create a completely new type of media.”
