The world’s second-largest payments company and a major player in the credit card industry – Mastercard is organizing the Mastercard Artist Accelerator program in order to encourage music artists and boost their careers on Web3.
Mastercard on Wednesday formally revealed the launch of its non-fungible token, also known as ‘Mastercard Music Pass NFT’, at the world’s largest NFT conference- NFT NYC 2023 in Miami.
The MasterCard Music Pass NFT is an unpaid NFT that was created and developed in collaboration with Polygon. It serves as a gateway for Web3 musicians, fans, and enthusiasts to join the MasterCard Accelerator Program, which can be minted free through the end of April.
In particular, to make its presence felt on Web3, Mastercard organizes the first Sonic Latin American Music Festival combining music and NFTs in the Metaverse domain. Mastercard earlier supported musicians by sponsoring the Grammy Awards, Latin Grammy Awards, and Brit Awards.
Through this accelerator program, artists will experience the Web3 platform with AI technology, gain free access to educational resources, and have the opportunity to interact with Web3 mentors such as Artist Latasha and Ledger’s Chief Experience Officer, Lan Rodgers.
Raja Rajamannar, the company’s chief marketing and communications officer and president of the health care division, suggested that the idea to launch NFTs and operate this accelerator program emerged from Web3 to provide education. Thus, he added, “We also believe that Web3 can be a powerful tool in connecting people and building communities around shared universal passions”
Raja Rajamannar stated that “as a company, we hope to help people and partners around the world better understand and trust how blockchain and digital assets are used – and how our technology can support the ecosystem.”
