The DeFi leading protocol, Aave, proposed launching Aave V3 on zkSync Era Mainnet to expand its presence into zkEVM. The proposal passed the “temperature check” vote, a preliminary vote carried out by the Aave community to determine whether there is sufficient support to approve a proposal.
According to the proposal, “zkSync will further Aave’s expansion cross-chain, reinforcing Aave’s place as the top liquidity market.”
The preliminary vote has demonstrated significant support from nearly more than 99% of Aave holders for the proposal, paving the way for Aave to move forward with its plan to launch on zkEVM.
However, the initial launch will be limited to USD Coin (USDC) and Ethereum (ETH), with adding more options in the future.
Aave’s move to zkEVM is significant as it marks one of the first major DeFi protocols to embrace layer-2 scaling solutions. By leveraging zkEVM’s ZK-rollup technology, Aave will provide fast, secure, and low-cost transactions. The platform will still maintain the same level of security and decentralization as the Ethereum network.
The launch date for Aave on zkEVM is yet to be announced but is expected to happen later this year. The community’s approval of the proposal is a significant step forward for Aave. The news is expected to encourage other DeFi protocols to consider layer-2 scaling solutions as well.
