The German chemical manufacturer, BASF, has just submitted a trademark application for non-fungible tokens (NFTs). This move coincides with an increase in interest in NFTs, which are unique digital assets validated using blockchain technology.
On April 13, the application was uploaded to the United States Patents & Trademarks Office (USPTO), claiming the intention to offer NFTs. BASF filed a trademark application for “NFT” on February 17, 2022.Â
BASF’s decision to file a trademark application for NFTs is a great step forward for the industry because it validates the technology’s potential. As more traditional corporations enter the NFT area, we may anticipate increasing market innovation and growth.
