Crypto influencer and Youtuber Ben Armstrong aka “Bitboy Crypto” missed a court appearance after being summoned for allegedly harassing plaintiffs’ lawyer Adam Moskowitz in a case against bankrupt FTX.
Bitboy Crypto was seen unbothered despite missing the court date as he is currently vacationing in the Bahamas. He even tweeted “I am supposed to be in court today. I’m not. Why? Because I don’t give AF.”
According to Judge Melissa Damian, she will report BitBoy Crypto to the FBI for criminally harassing the plaintiffs’ lawyer Adam Moskowitz. Armstrong’s attorney claimed that his client’s statements come under protected speech.
But Judge Damian ruled that Armstrong’s actions go above and beyond that line and constitute threats. Attorney Moskowitz told the court during the hearing that he had received emails specifically indicating that Bitboy Crypto called him threatening to shoot.
Later, Bitboy Crypto crossed the line as he was seen posing with a pig posted with the caption “GUYS I MISSED COURT BUT STILL RAN INTO ADAM MOSKOWITZ AND WE MADE UP!”
Armstrong’s counsel received a warning from Judge Damian that if the YouTuber didn’t show up by April 24 she would issue a warrant for his arrest.
Bitboy Crypto and a few other YouTubers faced a $1 billion class-action lawsuit last month for promoting FTX with the plaintiff Edwin Garrison claiming FTX paid the Defendants to push its brand and encourage their followers to invest, but the Defendants did not disclose the nature and scope of their sponsorship.
The other YouTubers mentioned in the lawsuit apart from Ben Armstrong are Graham Kevin Paffrath, Graham Stephan, Andrei Jikh, Jaspreet Singh, Brian Jung, Jeremy Lefebvre, Tom Nash, Erika Kullberg, and Creators Agency LLC.
