Popular internet streamer Kitboga, known for his entertaining encounters with scammers, has teamed up with United States crypto exchange Kraken in an innovative effort to combat fraudulent activities in the crypto space. In a recent tweet on May 10, Kitboga revealed that Kraken had created a “custom environment” for him to bait and frustrate scammers.
The collaboration took an interesting turn when Kitboga encountered a scammer impersonating President Joe Biden, whom he had previously dealt with around a year ago. Armed with the tools provided by Kraken, Kitboga portrayed an elderly woman and enticed the scammer with a fake crypto account containing approximately $450,000 worth of Bitcoin (BTC).
Using remote computer screen-sharing software, the scammer observed the substantial funds, believing he was on the verge of a big payday. However, Kitboga purposely entered the scammer’s wallet address incorrectly, resulting in all the funds being sent to an unintended destination. Enraged by this twist of events, the scammer resorted to a barrage of expletives, unaware that the scam had been foiled.
Interestingly, the scammer had unwittingly provided a BTC wallet address hosted by Kraken. This enabled the crypto exchange to identify and flag the scammer’s illicit activities, adding an extra layer of accountability to the incident.
In some cases, Kitboga has gone beyond mere entertainment, successfully reporting fraudulent activities to host companies, resulting in the takedown of dubious websites used by scammers. His YouTube profile emphasizes his commitment to shedding light on the dark world of scammers, exposing their scams, and providing valuable information to prevent others from falling victim to their schemes.
In a recent video on May 1, Kitboga shed light on a new Bitcoin-related scam that targets victims through email or text messages. The scammers claim that unauthorized purchases have been made with the victims’ bank accounts and proceed to convince them that their identities have been stolen.
They then instruct the victims to withdraw their cash, purchase BTC, and send the funds to a “secure government wallet.” Kitboga cleverly played along with the scammers, pretending to have his “grandson” buy 10,000 BTC and deliberately sending the funds to the wrong address, thereby outwitting the scammers once again.
