During his inaugural appearance as a presidential candidate at the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made a groundbreaking announcement: he will become the first presidential candidate in the history of the United States to embrace campaign donations in Bitcoin.
During the conference, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. expressed his admiration for the emerging cryptocurrency industry, referring to it as a “symbol of democracy and freedom.” It was the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that led him to this profound realization.
Kennedy commenced his keynote by sharing the story of how his interest in Bitcoin was sparked. He revealed that it was Canada’s move to restrict protesting truck drivers by freezing their bank accounts amidst COVID-19 restrictions that truly opened his eye to the inherent value of Bitcoin.
Following the profound experience, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. remarked, “When I realized this… devastating use of government repression, I realized for the first time how free money is as important to freedom as free expression.”
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is currently running as a contender against President Joe Biden. He added, “Bitcoin is a bulwark against precisely this kind of government and corporate expansion and intrusion.”
In his address regarding his stance on cryptocurrencies, Robert emphasized that if elected as president, “I will make sure that your right to hold and use Bitcoin is inviolable.”
