The decentralized cryptocurrency exchange (DEX), PancakeSwap, has ventured into the gaming world with the launch of Pancake Protectors, an immersive tower defense game.
While the beta version had already made its appearance last week, today marks the official release of the game on Mobox, a player versus player (PvP) Gamefi platform on the Binance chain.
The integration of Pancake Swap’s native token, CAKE, into Pancake Protectors has been a major development. Players will now have the opportunity to earn CAKE while enjoying the game.
The utilization of CAKE in Pancake Protectors brings several advantages and utilities, including claiming game heroes, recharging in-game resources, unlocking new levels for extra rewards, and staking the token to earn additional in-game assets.
PancakeSwap, known for its decentralized nature and self-custody features, operates on Binance’s Smart Chain while also ensuring interoperability with assets on other chains.
However, it’s important to note that Pancake Protectors is not a play-to-earn game, as clarified by the pseudonymous head chef of Pancake Swap, Mochi, on Twitter. The game’s growth will not rely on inflationary models, distinguishing it from many other play-to-earn games in the market.
Mochi expressed pride in the collaboration with Mobox and their shared goal of delivering an exceptional gaming experience.
He emphasized the experimental nature of Pancake Protectors and stated that the community’s reaction will be closely monitored to determine its suitability.
Earlier this month, Pancake Swap made headlines with its Version 3 upgrade, which introduced more competitive trading fees and improved liquidity provisions.
While the launch of a tower defense game by a DEX may come as a surprise, Pancake Swap is expanding its reach into the gaming sector, offering a new dimension of Web3 to its existing user base.
The integration of CAKE and the introduction of Pancake Protectors demonstrate the platform’s commitment to innovation and diversification.
