By employing restricted reply settings, the author of the tweet limited the ability of others to provide timely warnings regarding the fraudulent nature of the shared link. Consequently, it became challenging for users to readability alert others about the scam.
Among Twitter users, there is speculation surrounding the possibility that Murati fell victim to a SIM-swapping attack. This theory suggests that unauthorized access to the Twitter account could be attributed to such an attack.
The website linked in the tweet exhibits a high level of sophistication, as it appears to have replicated the layout and design of a legitimate project called ChainGPT with minor modifications. Notably, the primary alternation is the prompt urging users to connect a cryptocurrency wallet.
According to a security researcher from Beosin, the website in question utilizes a crypto wallet-draining kit that deceives visitors by coercing them into signing malicious requests.
