The Worldcoin community, dedicated to building a more human economic system, has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing 2 million sign-ups for its World ID during the beta phase, accomplishing this feat in less than half the time it took to reach the first million.
This widespread adoption can be attributed to the recent availability of Orbs, the cutting-edge biometric imaging devices designed specifically for Worldcoin, which have been introduced as part of the project’s global tour.
The impressive growth rate continues, with over 40,000 individuals signing up for a verified World ID every week. This achievement is a testament to the efforts of the entire Worldcoin community, including the builders, integration and composability partners, and the individuals diligently verifying their World ID on a daily basis.
The urgency for such a system is underscored by the McKinsey Global Institute’s report on Digital Identification, which highlights that over 4.4 billion people worldwide lack a legal identity or possess one that cannot be digitally verified, hindering their access to financial services.
World ID aims to address this challenge by offering a privacy-preserving way for individuals to prove their uniqueness and humanness within the Worldcoin ecosystem.
To accommodate the growing demand for verified World IDs, the availability of Orbs is expected to expand significantly in the coming months. Further details regarding the timing and locations of new Orb releases will be shared shortly.
