The first self-custodial lightning Wallet Mutiny launches its Beta version that runs on the web and is now accessible to the public.
As this does not depend on any Apple or Google app store downloads, you can manage your funds from anywhere in the world and on whatever device you have.
Due to some strict Apple app store requirements, many Bitcoin wallets get stripped of features like tipping users or paying for digital content.

Mutiny Wallet used the Lightning Development Kit (LDK) from Jack Dorsey’s Block, which allows developers to customize every side of the Lightning stack, including the ability to compile it for the web.
To manage the liquidity for the users, the firm partnered with Voltage which will be the main Liquidity Service Provider with their new Flow 2.0. This allows new Mutiny users to receive their first payments within seconds of opening the application.
Mutiny Wallet has decided to separate the balance between users’ funds locked up in Lightning channels and funds available for on-chain spending.
When splicing technology uses widely, it would help solve most of the problems to unified balances. Splicing technology allows users to add or remove funds to a single channel without managing multiple channels per user.
Usually, on-chain funds were secured using only their seed words. In case of access to wallet loss, Mutiny Wallet has added an encrypted and remote storage feature for restoring funds using system backup.
If a user ever clears their browsing history or moves to a new device can restore funds from their lightning data with the help of configured backup server.
Mutiny Wallet now allows the support of Nostr Wallet Connections (NWC). Nostr, a decentralized social media enabling protocol, allows users to tip and request payments directly from their wallets with the help of NWC. This can be used in popular Nostr Clients like Damus or Amethyst to tip users directly from their wallet and also allow other NwC applications.
The wallet has introduced Mutiny+, a paid subscription of the wallet starting from 21k sats per month. The subscription provides some extra features to the users such as gifting sats, and custom payment algorithms to increase payment reliability and priority support.
