One of Europe’s leading financial services groups Societe Generale has become the first company in France to obtain a license for crypto services, as confirmed by the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF).
The license allows SG Forge to engage in buying, selling, exchanging, and custody of digital assets, representing a significant milestone in the mainstream acceptance of cryptocurrencies in France.
To operate in France, the firm needed to obtain a license to “comply with certain requirements in terms of organisation, financial resources and business conduct,” stated AMF.
In addition, Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency platforms, has recently obtained approval from French regulatory authorities after an 18-month waiting period. Binance has been granted a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) registration.

The approval of SG Forge serves as a platform that bridges the gap between digital assets and the capital market, facilitating their integration and fostering greater accessibility for investors.
