The blockchain project Wormhole has introduced a new application-specific blockchain (appchain) named Gateway in the Cosmos ecosystem.
Unlike traditional blockchains, appchains are customized to serve the specific needs of a single application.
Gateway’s main goal is to simplify the process for developers and users to onboard tokens into any Cosmos chain, enhancing liquidity and fostering growth within the Cosmos ecosystem.
Gateway becomes the first appchain to connect liquidity and users from 23 different blockchains supported by Wormhole to Cosmos-based appchains, thanks to its IBC-based liquidity router.
Users can now transfer assets from ecosystems like Ethereum and Solana to Cosmos without additional bridging fees.
This move expands Wormhole’s impact within the Cosmos ecosystem beyond its initial integration with Injective in 2022. With Gateway, developers and users from various blockchains can seamlessly access and interact with any Cosmos appchain.
Powered by Cosmos SDK, Gateway is set to drive liquidity and facilitate smooth token onboarding, encouraging the development and expansion of decentralized applications within the Cosmos ecosystem.
