The potential presidential candidate Javier Milei is leading with the most votes in Argentina’s primary election. Javier is best known among the crypto community for his strong support of Bitcoin.
According to the live results on Bloomberg, Milei is at the top with 31.58% votes on over 90% of voting tables, followed by Patricia Bullrich and Hiracio Rodriguez Larreta.
Milei has called for the abolishment of the country’s central bank in the past, claiming that politicians use these legal tenders to scam citizens. He emphasizes that Bitcoin is a natural reaction that puts money back into people’s hands.
The voters in Argentina are currently facing an annual inflation rate of 116%, the highest in the last three decades. Amid this, Milei’s stand on Bitcoin and the central bank could play a crucial role in making him a suitable leader to fight the crisis.
However, it also comes to note that Milei has been sued for allegedly promoting a crypto Ponzi scheme in August 2022.
