The fast food chain McDonald’s Singapore announced to giveaway Grimace NFTs that cannot trade once minted. These Grimace NFTs are limited-edition cartoonish profile picture NFTs featuring purple monsters.
On August 21, the McDonald’s regional division will start giving away 2,000 total NFT collectibles, which have a distinctive blend of attributes. These NFTs will only be available via the McDonald’s app and be free to redeem in Singapore.
The Global brand’s purple monster will be on NFT collectibles with various expressions and wearing accessories. To bring the character to life, McDonald’s connected with a crypto infrastructure startup Bandwagon Labs, and ‘The Hidden Walls’ a local NFT artist.
The NFTs will be minted on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon. Participants will have to create a crypto wallet like MetaMask or Web3Auth, where the user can log in with a social media account.
Each polygon NFT will be non-transferable as all tokens will be in a form of a “soulbound” tokens. These NFTs are designed as a free keepsake for the customers of McDonald’s due to there will be no secondary sale.
“We’re excited to bring Grimace closer to our fans through these unique digital collectibles,” said Drina Chee, the Senior Director of Marketing and Digital Customer Experience at McDonald’s Singapore.
