The core developer and prominent Dogecoin personality, Mishaboar expresses his views on Dogecoin’s potential shifting into a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) chain.
In the response to a poll on X, Mishaboar stated that he is strictly against Dogecoin’s shifting to a PoS from its current Proof-Of-Work (PoW) consensus.
“After what I have seen over the past 2 years, I would probably then move to another PoW crypto and customize the logo in my wallet to have a dog in it,” he said over the ‘possibility of Dogecoin ever switching to PoS.’
Dogecoin is one of the oldest cryptocurrency and blockchain network, launched in December 2013. Since the launch it has been run by independent validators under Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism.
While sharing his argument against PoS, Mishaboar said that most PoS chains have ‘under delivered’ and it runs centralized by wealth developers.
“I cannot see how PoS can be a sensible approach when a huge chunk of the supply is held within exchanges,” he said adding, “Not to mention potential issues with regulators.”
Furthermore, the Dogecoin advocate clarifies that PoS currency is advantageous as it uses lower energy and executes faster transactions but it’s also achievable with alternative integrations.
Over the past years, Dogecoin has become a sensation in cryptocurrency history with it often being significantly praised by Elon Musk.
