An announcement by the government after the G20 summit indicates that a special session of parliament will be organized from September 18 to September 22 and will have five sittings.
On August 31, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi posted about the special session on Platform X. The sessions (the 13th session of the 17th Lok Sabha and the 261st Session of the Rajya Sabha) will be held days after the G20 summit in the national capital- New Delhi, on September 9 and 10.
The reason for the special session is still not specified, but there is some speculation in official circles. The Modi government possibly make a major announcement, such as starting the process for holding nationwide elections simultaneously, introducing the Women’s Reservation Bill, or introducing the crypto bill.
In recent times, PM Modi has called for a global framework for cryptocurrency and the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence at the B20 summit. Also, the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) encourages the development of the Web3 ecosystem and cryptocurrency by hosting a challenging competition.
Due to the government’s strong support for the cryptocurrency industry, the Modi administration may present the crypto bill or make other decisions about the crypto industry at this special summit for parliament.
