In the unfortunate turn of events, a woman from the United Kingdom become a victim of crypto scams, lost her life savings of over $200,000.
According to the report, a resident of Norfolk came in contact with an online advertisement that seemed fascinating. She decided to invest her money into cryptocurrencies and interact with the platform.
Afterward, the perpetrator contacted her, and they found that the prey was not tech-savvy. They tried to manipulate women emotionally by building close relationships.
After winning the woman’s trust, the perpetrator launched their modus Operandi. They asked the woman to provide access to her laptop and smartphone to “transfer large sums of money at different intervals.” She thought that scammers were helping her to invest money in crypto.
Later, she found that she was being scammed when she contacted her bank. According to bank details, the scammers stole $227,000. The woman was shocked and had a breakdown, saying:
“My first reaction when I was told I had been scammed was feeling very frightened of my future, as the scammers left me with nothing. Life will never be the same, and I am trying to come to terms that some people can be so ruthless.”
Local law enforcement officials cautioned individuals to exercise additional caution when engaging in cryptocurrency investments, as they highlighted that malicious individuals frequently deceive victims through social media platforms and websites.
