The creator of the newly launched game “Creator League,” eFuse, has clarified the absence of cryptocurrency or non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in the game, ending rumors that had surfaced in the community.
eFuse announced the Creator League on September 2nd. Renowned YouTuber Mr. Beast-promoted Creator League is a first-of-its-kind series in which you, the gaming community, can play alongside world-renowned creators, including IShowSpeed and Bella Poarch, and influence the outcome of matches.
The inaugural season of the Creator League will feature 8 Creator Teams and be divided into four splits, potentially including different games in each split. To become more involved, a limited number of digital Community Passes are available, unlocking a range of perks and benefits, including voting rights and digital and in-person experiences.
Unfortunately, within a few hours of the announcement, the game faced backlash from the esports community due to its use of blockchain technology. However, eFuse has now clarified that the Creator League uses the Near Blockchain to validate data and log information related to the community passes.
Some influencers and esports players criticized eFuse for selling NFTs as in-game “Community Passes.” On the other hand, some of the eight early creators, such as YouTuber Connor “CDawgVA” Colquhoun, have decided to disassociate themselves from the game after discovering its use of blockchain.
In a press release, the VP of Engineering for eFuse, Shawn Pavel responded, “The Creator League is not an NFT project, and we have never sold tokens.” He explained that the purpose of incorporating blockchain technology into the game was to enhance transparency regarding inventory levels. Furthermore, all passes were sold in USD, not cryptocurrency.
As per the latest update, The Creator League has been postponed after the news of a 30% layoff from eFuse came out.
The entire matter emerged due to miscommunication and a need for more knowledge about blockchain technology. People not associated with the blockchain space often mistake it for cryptocurrency without realizing its potential beyond that.
