The Stellar Development Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports the Stellar blockchain, has launched a new campaign, “Where Blockchain Meets The Real World,” starring British actor Idris Elba. The Stellar also released a conversation with their CEO, Denelle Dixon, providing details about this unusual partnership.
A three-minute film featuring Iris Elba as the narrator and director was released as part of a larger brand refresh, highlighting the positive effects of blockchain. He narrates, “We can bring balance to an imbalanced world by recognizing that if ideas are borderless, opportunities should be too.”
The Popcorn Brain agency created this spot, on which they presented some instances of financial insecurity, including an elder man keeping the bills in the wall, a vendor struggling to send money abroad, and a mother in a war-torn nation worrying about the future of her children.
Elba uses his struggle and the importance of opportunity in helping him succeed to weave a monologue about inequality in the video. However, Elba never used words like blockchain or any crypto-related term and only indirectly addressed the technology.
Stellar Development Foundation has taken both approaches to fuel a brand refresh focused on empowering builders, which replaced the celestial-themed branding of Stellar’s past. The blog post from SDF’s chief marketer mentions that the motive was recognition that it “was time to come down to Earth.”
He also mentions in a conversation with the CEO, “I’m really interested in tools like you know the Stellar Network, and because it’s about freedom. Again, that word freedom, the ability and agility to move about that’s important.” He added that Stellar allows him to transfer money much faster, which took about two weeks earlier, as a reason he was interested in organizations like this.
