Sui, the layer-1 blockchain solution, announced the launch of “zkLogin” to enable users to access decentralized applications (dApps) using their existing accounts on Web 2 platforms, including Google, Facebook, Twitch, and others.
The development strives to fill the gap between Web 2 and Web 3 through authentication solutions.
Sui also plans to integrate the zkLogin interface with other Web 2 platforms, including Microsoft, Apple, WeChat, and Amazon, in the near future.
zkLogin would help the Sui Ecosystem onboard non-crypto-native users to dApps without creating crypto wallets.
In the blog post, Sui stated that zkLogin is “the biggest opportunity” to eliminate barriers and onboard a billion new users to the next generation of connected experiences.
Greg Siourounis, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, stated that “By enabling users to access dApps with the social logins they have grown comfortable using, zkLogin removes a major hurdle for bringing the benefits of blockchain-based applications to billions of mainstream users.”
Sui’s ZkLogin leverages the power of zk-SNARKs and JSON Web Tokens. It harnesses the power of zero-knowledge-proof technology, allowing users to verify their digital identity or wallet ownership without disclosing actual credentials.
