A popular blockchain platform, Ethereum, has announced to launch a new testing network, Holesky, to celebrate the first anniversary of its transition from the energy-intensive proof-of-work to proof-of-stake.
This new testing network is twice as big as the main network, allowing developers to test their applications on a larger scale before using them on the real network.
Holesky will help Ethereum improve its ability to test new features and smart contracts safely. It’s set to replace another test network, Goerli, in early 2024, becoming Ethereum’s largest test network with 1.4 million validators, compared to the main network’s 700,000.
Creating this bigger test network is essential to identify and fix scalability issues before they deploy on the main Ethereum network. This ensures that applications work smoothly and securely for real users, preventing problems and disruptions in the future.
