The Rehabilitation Trustee for the cryptocurrency exchange Mt. Gox announced on September 20, 2023, that they are changing the repayment deadlines for the Base Repayment, the Early Lump-Sum Repayment, and the Intermediate repayment from October 31, 2023, to October 31, 2024.
In a press release available at the Mt.Gox website, the Trustee explained that the change in deadlines was necessary due to the time required for rehabilitation creditors to provide the necessary information.
The delay would give time for the Trustee to confirm such information, engage in discussions, and share information with banks, fund transfer service providers, designated cryptocurrency exchanges, etc., involved in the repayments.
The Trustee also noted that repayment is not yet in a position to commence for rehabilitation creditors who have not yet provided the necessary information. These creditors are requested to provide the necessary information as soon as possible.
The Trustee apologized for any inconvenience the change in deadlines may cause, and assured everyone that they are committed to making repayments as soon as possible.
What Does this mean for rehabilitation creditors?
For rehabilitation creditors who have already provided the Trustee with the necessary information, repayments will be made in sequence as early as the end of 2023. However, the exact timing of repayments to each rehabilitation creditor has not yet been determined.
For rehabilitation creditors who have not yet provided the Trustee with the necessary information, they are requested to do so as soon as possible. Repayment is not yet in a position to commence for these creditors.
