On Monday evening, a prominent cryptocurrency influencer named Ben Armstrong, previously known as BitBoy Crypto, was arrested during a live broadcast on YouTube.
Armstrong had planned to confront NFT investment consultant Carlos Diaz, to try and retrieve his Lamborghini. Things changed as he started discussing conspiracy theories on the livestream. The situation got out of control, and the police had to step in.
During the now-deleted livestream, Armstrong said something very concerning. He mentioned that if Carlos Diaz were to come out of his house and pose a threat to him live on YouTube, he was prepared to face whatever happened.
This statement came shortly after Armstrong had tweeted about going live on YouTube from a “special location.”
In August, the BitBoy Crypto platform publicly separated itself from its founder, Armstrong.
Armstrong then reached out to his followers for help in financing his legal efforts to regain control of BitBoy Crypto. Currently, supporters have donated more than $54,000 to his Ethereum addresses.
During the livestream, Armstrong said, “This is someone who’s been in fear for his life for too long… I will really enjoy the cops coming here.”
As per the Gwinnett County, Georgia, Sheriff’s Office, Ben was booked on september 25, 2023, at 9:11 PM, local time. He is currently incarcerated and has visitation benefits for now.
When the police asked Armstrong about the person with him in the truck, he hesitantly confessed that his supposed girlfriend and co-founder of BitBoy Crypto, Cassie Wolfe, was with him. But he made it clear that his wife knew where he was and what he was doing.
