The PleasrDAO NFT community is joining forces with local authorities to install a real-life statue in honor of Kabuso, the dog that served as the muse for the meme.
The unveiling of this statue is scheduled for November 2 in Sakura, Japan, which also happens to be Kabuso’s birthday in collaboration with the City of Sakura.
The statue will find its permanent home in Sakura Furusato Square, a place frequently visited by Kabosu and her owner for leisurely strolls.
Supporters of Kabosu, the Shiba Inu from Japan that served as the muse for the Doge meme and Dogecoin, successfully gathered funds last year to create a statue in her honor. They also wish to put this statue on the moon one day.
The community intends to organize engaging activities in honor of the special occasion. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with Sato and receive special benefits depending on the NFTs they own.
PleasrDAO is a collective of NFT enthusiasts who invest in valuable NFTs and foster communities, such as Own The Doge. They interpret “DOGE” as an acronym for “Do Only Good Everyday” and actively support charitable causes worldwide.
Additionally, Own The Doge is currently in the process of producing a documentary that chronicles the life of Kabuso and the ascent of the famous “Doge” meme.
The doge meme originated in 2010 when Atsuko Sato took a picture of her dog Kabosu for her blog. Its popularity rose when John Monarch, the user who shared the image from Atsuko’s blog, coined the name “doge” for the dog on Reddit, causing it to go viral.
