In 2023, blockchain gaming projects attracted a substantial $2.3 billion in investments, defying a sluggish cryptocurrency market, as reported by DappRadar.
This investment was spread across three quarters, with $739 million in the first quarter, $973 million in the second, and $600 million in the third.
During the third quarter of 2023, $213 million was invested in metaverse-related games and technology, even though some doubted the metaverse concept. The remaining funds in the third quarter were directed toward Web3 gaming infrastructure and investment firms.
It’s important to note that the investment in Web3 gaming this year was substantially less than in 2022, amounting to only 30% of the previous year’s total.
In the third quarter of 2022, the blockchain gaming industry received $1.2 billion in investments, which dropped significantly in 2023, marking a 50% decrease in investment.
The resilience of blockchain gaming investments in 2023, despite challenges, underlines the industry’s potential for growth and innovation.
This decline in blockchain gaming investment could be a sign of shifting industry priorities and market trends. Adapting to emerging technologies and concepts like the metaverse remains key to its future success.
