Aptos, the layer 1 blockchain, suffered a major network outage for more than five hours on October 19.
Blockchain analyst Wu Blockchainn shared that Aptos has been down for more than five hours. Data from Aptos blockchain Explorer displays that the network stopped block production at the height of 104,621,314.
The outage has arisen exactly a year after Aptos mainnet launched on October 18, 2022. The Aptos community was celebrating the first anniversary with a mass-graffiti canvas while the outage occurred.
Aptos shared that a massive transaction order on this anniversary canvas has potentially impacted its capacity, which caused the network to go down for hours.
The issue has been solved now, and the network is functioning properly.
Aptos has grown significantly within a year of its mainnet launch, having processed over 301 million transactions. It has a current market cap of over $1.2 billion, according to AptoScan data.
