A leading Bitcoin ASIC manufacturer, Bitmain, has launched the Antminer T21, an air-cooled Bitcoin miner designed for high-temperature environments.
The miner can operate at up to 45 degrees Celsius. It was unveiled at the Blockchain Life 2023 Forum in Dubai and will start shipping in January 2024.
The Antminer T21 supports the SHA256 mining algorithm for Bitcoin and its forks, offering a computing power of 190 terahashes per second and an energy efficiency ratio of 19 joules per terahash.
Bitmain also offers a price protection plan for Antminer T21 buyers to safeguard against declining cryptocurrency prices, available until November 25, 2023. Customers will receive cash compensation immediately if the Bitcoin price falls below a certain level during the protected period.
Bitmain faces competition from other ASIC manufacturers like Canaan, which recently released new mining machines. Despite new product releases, the ASIC industry has seen challenges, with the price per terahash dropping over 80% since its peak in 2021.
Blockchain technology firm Blockstream is seeking to raise $50 million to purchase and store mining equipment in preparation for the 2024 Bitcoin halving.
