The Starknet Foundation launched the Early Community Member Program (ECMP), a structured effort to empower and assist the community that propels the network’s growth by allocating some 50 million STRK tokens.
The ECMP will run between October 30 and November 23, 2023, and the community will decide on December 29, 2023. The blog post claims that the ECMP program is an intentional attempt to draw attention to the unsung heroes who dedicated their time, talents, and hearts to forming Starknet’s history.
As per the post, the initiative highlighted certain individual contributors, such as individuals who have significantly contributed to technical discourse in the community, contributors listed by key projects of the ecosystem, organized events related to Starknet, and regularly published Starknet-branded content.
The post says, “We intend to use this opportunity and give recognition to individuals that contributed significantly to the Starknet ecosystem in various ways.” Individuals and projects will be required to apply for the grant, providing details of their contributions.
Following phase 1’s conclusion, the committee will consider input and might process a second batch with more criteria. Four criteria, including originality, effort, significance, and reach/impact, will be used by the evaluation committee to assess people and projects for the ECMP.
The Starknet Foundation has a hoard of roughly 5 billion STRK, which is derived from its original grant of 50.1% of the 10 billion STRK initial minted supply. As the tokens aren’t trading and are locked up until at least April, it’s hard to estimate their value.
