The ticker symbol “BTCO” for Invesco and Galaxy’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) has recently appeared on the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation’s (DTCC) website.
This suggests that the ETF has been included in the DTCC’s list of “ETF Products” within the past six days. Having a ticker symbol listed on the DTCC’s site doesn’t guarantee that the ETF will receive approval for trading in the future.
The Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) was recently included in a list within the past six days. This can be confirmed because the Wayback Machine, a web archiving tool, did not show any listing under the ticker BTCO on October 25.
Just because a ticker is added to the list of “ETF Products” on the DTCC’s website, it doesn’t guarantee that the ETF will be approved in the future.
A spokesperson from the DTCC mentioned that it’s a standard procedure for them to add securities to the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC) security eligibility file as part of preparations for the launch of a new ETF in the market.
