The Registration Authority (RA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) has officially introduced the world’s first Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Foundations Regulations 2023, which represents a significant step in creating rules for digital assets on a regional and international scale.
This new set of laws has been put in place to establish a comprehensive framework for DLT foundations and Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), allowing them to operate and issue tokens while considering the unique requirements of the blockchain industry. ADGM aims to support initiatives in the broader blockchain and digital asset sectors with these regulations.
These regulations are designed to benefit blockchain foundations, Web3 entities, DAOs, and traditional foundations looking to improve their operations using DLT.
This framework is expected to transform the industry by offering a unified solution for digital asset-related activities and the wider Foundations landscape, leading to a more transparent and efficient future.
ADGM’s DLT Foundations Regime leverages technology to create a practical way to manage and govern these organizations while recognizing the industry’s preference for decentralization. The regulations were developed after gathering feedback from DLT industry participants through a public consultation, which will further solidify ADGM’s position as a global leader in regulating digital assets.
