Gemini Trust Co. worldwide chief technology officer Pravjit Tiwana is departing the company created by twin founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, which is the latest indication of the persistent employment issues affecting cryptocurrency companies.
Tiwana is also in charge of Gemini APAC, the cryptocurrency exchange’s Asian division. Two people with knowledge of the situation who want to remain anonymous while discussing personal matters, said that Tiwana is departing this month.
Tiwana’s LinkedIn profile states that he worked as a general manager at Amazon Web Services for more than six years before joining Gemini in January 2022. Retired employees said that he tried to restructure team dynamics and revitalize Gemini’s culture to make it more like Amazon’s, which led to some staff quitting.
His official duties at Gemini included managing products, engineering, and design, and he is also developing the business’s operations in India. One of Tiwana’s C-suite coworkers at Gemini, Noah Perlman, departed earlier this year to become a chief operating officer at Binance.
Due to ownership of shares in the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust valued at about $1.6 billion, Gemini sued Genesis Global Holdco LLC, last month.
