The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) is searching for a director of digital assets with expertise in digital assets, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain technology.
The new director will be responsible for developing a commercial strategy for new infrastructure solutions and expanding LSEG’s presence in digital private markets.
LSEG recently revealed plans to create a blockchain-based platform for traditional asset trading, aiming to enhance efficiency in handling such assets. However, they made it clear that their focus is not on cryptocurrency-related endeavors.
The UK government has been tightening regulations in the cryptocurrency space, allowing authorities to seize Bitcoin involved in criminal activities and planning to introduce stablecoin regulations.
LSEG’s search for a director of digital assets reflects the growing importance of blockchain technology in traditional financial markets, although their cautious approach to cryptocurrencies aligns with the UK’s tightening regulatory stance.
