Renowned economist Nouriel Roubini, famously nicknamed “Dr. Doom”, known for his negative outlook and hate about crypto, has surprised many by launching his cryptocurrency venture called “Atlas.”
This project is being marketed as a digital token focusing on climate-related initiatives that aim to provide sustainable and substantial returns in areas that require them the most.
Atlas is backed by a thoughtfully selected mix of tangible real-world assets, including real estate investment trusts resilient to climate change, important commodities, government bonds designed to protect against inflation, and gold.
In the past, Roubini has been very critical of the cryptocurrency industry. During Abu Dhabi Finance Week in November 2022, he didn’t hold back, describing the entire crypto ecosystem as deceitful, tainted by corruption, and associated with dishonest individuals, fraudsters, and overly enthusiastic promoters. He even took a jab at a prominent figure in the industry, CZ.
