Nike made the new RTFKT Dunk Genesis sneakers available to the general public on Monday, allowing anyone to buy them without having an RTFKT NFT.
The Dunk Ghost Edition and Dunk VOID Edition sneakers by Nike and RTFKT retail for $222 each. Additionally, a t-shirt featuring the brand logos and the phrase “Oops, You Stepped Into the Future” is included with the collaboration.
Both sneaker models have a futuristic edge that is consistent with RTFKT’s past releases and the aesthetic of its digital shoes.
They also have some special features, such as detachable “Vial Clip Tongue” and “Modular Heel Shield” mods that allow you to alter the look. To enable owners to “create your own mods,” Nike will also make 3D files available.
These sneakers are likewise linked to NFTs, even though you don’t need one to buy them. The sneakers have an RTFKT World Merging integrated near-field communication (NFC) chip that allows the owner to “obtain a digital collectible, if they so choose, and connect the physical product shipped with the digital collectible obtained.”
Although RTFKT has minted on Ethereum in the past, it is unknown which chain Nike and RTFKT will use to mine the corresponding NFT collectibles. But Nike has its own, too. Ethereum scaling network Polygon hosts the Swoosh digital kicks platform.
