The Cool Cats NFT collection is now part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade lineup, joining well-known characters like Pikachu and Ronald McDonald as a balloon float. The parade took place on November 23, 2023 in New York City.
The Cool Cats balloon featured the brand’s mascot, Blue Cat, and his friend Chugs, the milk carton. Cool Cats won the competition to feature in the parade by getting their community to vote for them. They won with 69,175 votes.
A special Cool Cats hoodie, celebrating the occasion, will be on sale at Macy’s Herald Square. This unique hoodie includes an NFC tag that connects to an Azuki physical-backed token. This feature allows the hoodie to be worn in real life and within Cool Cats’ digital avatar system.
Cool Cats originated as a series of artworks by the artist Colin ‘Clon’ Egan, known as the ‘Cartoonist,’ before transitioning to Instagram in 2015. In 2021, Clon introduced the Cool Cats NFT collection, featuring 9,999 Blue Cat profile pictures (PFPs).
During the NFT boom in late 2021, this collection gained significant popularity, becoming one of the prominent profile picture projects. The Blue Cat PFPs were selling for an average price of $92,000, and the project even secured a deal with the renowned Hollywood agency CAA in early 2022.
However, prices declined due to growing dissatisfaction within the community and a broader downturn in the cryptocurrency market.
The lowest price for items in the collection is currently 0.99 ETH, or just over $2,000 based on the current market prices. The trading activity has surged by 225% in the last 24 hours, with a total volume of 57.9 ETH.
