A rising star in the BTC protocol space, Bitcoin Ordinals’ ORDI token has etched its name in history by becoming the first BRC-20 token to surpass a $1 billion market capitalization, as per CoinGecko data.
ORDI’s phenomenal growth propelled it to an unprecedented all-time high of over $65 on December 5, showcasing an impressive 850% surge from $6.80 on November 5.
In the last seven days alone, ORDI has witnessed an outstanding 216% increase. Presently valued at $1.3 billion, the token’s ascent from its September 11 all-time low of $2.86 has exceeded a staggering 2,000%.
Introduced by Casey Rodarmor in January, Bitcoin Ordinals facilitates content inscription on the Bitcoin blockchain, spanning NFTs and new tokens through the BRC-20 standard. Despite a brief lull in activity, Binance’s listing on November 7 reignited interest.
Since inception, more than 48 million Ordinals assets have been inscribed, generating fees totaling $146.9 million. Notably, on November 20, Bitcoin transaction fees outpaced Ethereum’s amid a rush to inscribe new NFTs and BRC-20 tokens.
The remarkable surge of Bitcoin Ordinals’ ORDI token underscores the growing prominence of blockchain-based assets, signaling a transformative shift in the cryptocurrency landscape.
