The co-founder of Terraform Labs, Do Kwon, has filed an appeal in the Montenegro High Court against his extraction to the U.S. or South Korea.
A local media outlet in South Korea reported that Do Kwon submitted an appeal to the court on December 6 and said, “I do not accept the court’s decision to extradite me, so I do not submit to the court’s decision.”
The court approved Kwon’s extradition request on November 24, which required him to be sent to either the United States or his home country, South Korea. Now Kwon’s appeal has triggered the reexamination of extradition, and the appeal will be reviewed by the Montenegro court.
Furthermore, the appeal from Do Kwon has come at a time when the decision-making will be changing for the Montenegrin Ministry of Justice, as the extradition has set a deadline of December 15.
During the extradition trial, Kwon expressed his desire to be extradited to South Korea, and it was granted by the court. However, the appeal has strengthened the extradition timeline now, which is expected to be rescheduled sometime in January, says a local journalist familiar with the matter.
