On December 5, IBM introduced the IBM Hyper Protect Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO), a secure cold storage solution for digital assets.
In collaboration with Metaco, a digital asset manager affiliated with Ripple and an IBM partner, as well as tier-1 banks, IBM created a comprehensive encryption service for digital assets. This solution aims to enhance security by addressing vulnerabilities commonly associated with traditional cold storage methods.
IBM is introducing a new technology called IBM Hyper Protect Offline Signing Orchestrator (OSO), which is part of its confidential computing portfolio. This technology aims to enhance cold storage solutions for digital assets. Cold storage is a method of keeping digital assets offline for security purposes.
The current cold storage solutions have some limitations, such as the need for manual procedures during transactions. IBM’s OSO addresses these limitations by adding extra security measures. It enables secure transactions by using disconnected network operations and time-based security, and it requires electronic approval from multiple stakeholders.
Hyper Protect OSO includes a policy engine that facilitates communication between two applications designed not to directly interact for security reasons. This provides an efficient and secure solution for conducting transactions involving digital assets.
