In 2023, Kazakhstan’s Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) took action against nearly a thousand crypto exchanges that were operating without proper registration and serving the country’s citizens.
The FMA, as per a press release on December 7, disclosed that it had blocked access to 980 unauthorized crypto platforms. Additionally, the agency initiated nine investigations into activities related to “illegal exchange operations” and money laundering.
Ruslan Ostroumov, the chairman of the FMA, shared this information during a meeting of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering in China.
