The sale of Solana Mobile has spiked 10 times in the past 2 days as users are rushing to claim an airdrop of 30 million BONK tokens, which is now valued more than the mobile price.
Solana launched Saga mobile phone earlier this year, and the buyers were recently entitled to receive a 30 million BONK token airdrop with each device.
However, the recent surge in BONK price created an unrealistic arbitrage opportunity for crypto enthusiasts, as the 30 million BONK tokens are now worth over $877, which is even higher than the actual $599 cost of the mobile phone.
While the “degen traders” are rushing to claim BONK tokens within mobile, the sale of Solana phones has eventually seen a massive increase in the past couple of days.
The core developer and co-founder of Solana, Raj Gokal, shared a post saying that Saga’s sales have gone up 10X and it’s about to sell out before the new year.
BONK recently flipped Pepe and became the second-largest meme coin while recording an astonishing gain of over 900% over the past month. It posed a doubled price in the past 24 hours, according to Coinmarketcap data.
Following the massive rush to order Saga, the Solana Mobile venture had to limit the purchase of mobile devices to one per household.
Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakavenko was also concerned about potential Sybil issues and suggested raising the Saga’s price.
Additionally, he admitted that he doesn’t use his Solana Saga as his primary mobile device, preferring to use it as his “NFT phone.”
