Polygon Labs, the main creator of the Polygon blockchain system, has announced that it is no longer actively contributing to Polygon Edge.
Polygon Edge is an open-source software designed for constructing networks compatible with Ethereum, and it served as the foundation for Dogechain, a project supposedly created to introduce decentralized finance (DeFi) to the Dogecoin community.
In a recent blog post, Polygon Labs stated that its focus on chain development within the Polygon ecosystem has shifted towards the new Polygon CDK. The Polygon CDK is a framework for building layer-2 blockchains that leverage zero-knowledge cryptography, often referred to as “ZK.”
They introduced a new network named Polygon zkEVM in March, which is compatible with Ethereum and incorporates zero-knowledge technology.
Following this launch, the team has actively sought out blockchain developers to utilize “Polygon CDK,” a guide for creating new layer-2 networks based on the original technology.
Various projects such as Immutable, Astar, Canto, Gnosis Pay, and Manta Network have already pledged to utilize Polygon CDK. The team is actively vying to secure the migration of the Celo blockchain to Layer 2.
Additionally, there are indications, as per sources familiar with the situation, that they are also working on a new Layer-2 network for the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken.
