Portal is working to connect cryptocurrency games with blockchain platforms using a single token and platform. The team recently revealed that they will distribute this token through an airdrop in January.
As a part of this initiative, the ongoing Crystal Dash game, which rewards players for promoting Portal content on Twitter, will end.
Once it concludes, participants will have the opportunity to exchange their earned shards for Portal tokens. Crystal Dash, which started in November, allows crypto enthusiasts to accumulate points by engaging with Portal-related content on Twitter, which they can then trade for crystal shards and eventually convert into Portal tokens.
The recent marketing campaign by Portal has caused some controversy on CryptoTwitter due to the overwhelming sharing of Portal-related content.
To address concerns about spam, Portal has updated its campaign rules. Now, users can only earn rewards for their first likes, retweets, and comments on a Portal Portal posts.
Portal claims to integrate with blockchains including Solana and Ethereum scaling network Polygon, and the token is built using LayerZero Labs’ interoperability protocol.
The project held a token presale last week, taking in nearly $10 million in the first 15 minutes across Ethereum and Solana, with millions of transaction requests.
Lately, there’s been a surge in these token giveaways as the crypto market has been doing well. Notable recent airdrops, like those from Jito and Pyth, have given users tokens worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
