The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) met with digital asset management giant Grayscale on December 19 to discuss the conversion of GBTC (Grayscale Bitcoin Trust) to Bitcoin ETF.
The proposed rule change by NYSE Arca to list and trade shares of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (BTC) was the topic of discussion.
The Division of Trading and Markets’ David Shillman, Eric Juzenas, Thomas McGowan, Ray Lombardo, Randall Roy, Sarah Schandler, Stacia Sowerby, and David Remus, together with the Division of Corporation Finance’s Justin Dobbie and Andrew Schoeffler, took part in the meeting.
Senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas commented that BlackRock and Grayscale are in a battle to see who can clock more SEC meetings.
